Gusts of sand rolled across the Red Desert as the sun shone brightly, lighting up whatever secret crevices that had been hidden by darkness. The sky was quite clear, with the few occasional clouds calmly pacing by. There had been fewer transporters than normal around here these past couple days, which was quite a surprise. Trade had always bewitched many merchants to cross the deadly desert, despite the obvious hints of bandits lurking about in the area. Had the merchants found a much more swifter and secure route to take? Or did they all depart on schedule, but never made it out at all?

"Hah!" Maki growled as he glided over the Red Desert with his Redler. The sky was quite clear, and the whole area had been windy. The perfect time for a nice flight. Maki gripped tightly onto the controls as his Redler turned upside down, allowing its pilot to catch quick glances at everything around him. The one thing that caught Maki's eyes, were how red the sand looked like, which was a really beautiful type of red. Not blood red, perhaps more like a tan-ish red. It was exotic, yet creepy. Flipping back upright, the Redler gave a low screech while it continued its peaceful flight. Maki on the other hand, scowled. "Swear to damn god, I didn't come here for freaking vacation......" An agitated tone slipped from his mouth as he slowly scanned over the area below him. For one thing, Maki wasn't here for a trip to the state of a calmed mind. Had he wanted to have a calm mind he would have ordered a nice little room all to himself and remain there all day long. That was his calming method. This, was not. He hadn't come here to relax, and he didn't come here because of some stupid job though that would have been nice either! Maki had come here for one thing and one thing only, and that was to kick some bandit butt. He was pissed, and maybe felt slightly bored. Reason being why he was in the desert is because of a group of drunk men that were at the local bar where he was staying at a couple days ago. They were chatting about the bandits, which had of course caught Maki's attention. They were probably really drunk as well, considering how much they slurred and how they were completely in their own little worlds.
Maki pushed on the lever, which made the Redler slowly descend onto the sandy surface. "Any minute now...." Muttered Maki as he sat silently in his zoid, awaiting for the bandits to hopefully ambush him. Seconds which seemed like hours had soon passed. His finger slowly tapped his knee, when were they going to appear!? Minutes passed. Had the drunkards been lying to him? A few minutes passed again. Was he wasting his time by idling for nothing to appear? Growling, Maki's eyes started pacing around, looking for anything that moved. It could be some random ass zoid pilot for all he cared, a wild zoid even! He needed something or someone to fight. Something he could take all this excess energy off of, so he could shut this feeling to move up. The boy slowly got more agitated as every minute passed. Hopefully if there were bandits around, they wouldn't have to meet Maki after thirty minutes have passed. What a sight that would be.

"Fucking beast!" Chessa was always much more comfortable in the cockpit of her Storm Sworder, but she might not always have that luxuary. Given that, she had been more than enthusiastic when she found not one, but two rare and powerful Zoids. She had been flying over the desert, this desert to be exact, when she spotted an old set of ruins. She wasn't one to go treasure hunting very often, but she did like the idea of a rest. Imagine her surprise when a wall collapsed and she was in some underground chamber. The big black dragon one had seemed to like her pretty well, the tiger though....
"Jeez! What the hell is wrong with you?!" She was having enough trouble manuvering the thing around; flying Zoids and land based ones had proved much more different to control than she had originally though. On top of this, the damned this was just being difficult. Every Zoid she had ever been in had let her control it pretty well, but it was like this one was almost fighting her. The battle had led to lots of cursing on Chessa's part and more than a few accidental weapon launches, but she was getting better. A little. Kind of. Maybe. She tried to center the thing, but instead the tiger pulled back and almost fell over.
Chessa let out a roar and slammed her fist on the control board. It must have been that for that split second it decided to listen to her, because it fired. Again. The large gun on top of the beast hummed to life, then fired out a super long ranged lazer into the distance. When the dust settled, time seemed to stop. Chessa's mouth was flung open, and even the tiger seemed suprised by the attack. Well, that was new. All of the other attacks had been the basic fair, so she had seen where it had landed and what had been damaged. That.... not so much. Shit. What if she had hit someone? Wasn't this area known for traveling merchants and the like? Not that she really cared all THAT deeply if she hit someone, but it would do her good to know if she did or not. After all, it would suck if she were on the reverse end of the specrum.
Sighing, Chessa forced the tiger to move. Slowly and steadily, she made her way in the direction she hd fired. Looking around, nothing seemed hurt, but you never knew. Eventually her eyes spotted something in the distance. It was a Zoid; a flying Zoid. Landed and seemingly immobile, but still a flying one. It looked kind of like a dragon or something, at least from what she could tell; she was still kind of far away. Now what would a flying Zoid be doing on the ground? Unless maybe....
Flicking a switch, Chessa opened herself opened up for communication. "Hey, you alright?" She offered no other words. If they didn't answer, she would turn her ass back around. If they did... she still might turn her ass around, just because she knew the person was still alive, and therefore not her problem anymore.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. The monitor stayed blank, and there wasn't even a sign of movement. The sound of the violent wind filled the cockpit of the Redler. Maki was pissed. He knew it. His Redler knew it. The whole world probably knew it. It was a waste of time coming here, it was horrible. If he was a muscle man, veins would have been popping right out of his skin. The boy was peeved. But before he could say anything, he took a deep breath and then held it. Slowly, the mask of anger slowly wore down, transitioning into a "I'm Bored" type of face. Maki's face had that blank look to it, like he had never been angry at the first place. He had this calm aura around him, like everything was going to be alright. His zoid on the other hand, knew what was coming, and it was bad. There had been times where Maki would've been like this, "the calm before the storm" they would say. The tactic had been deployed quite a few times in his past, which was totally like magic. At one moment, the boy would be throwing a fit and as if it were like magic, the next moment would be a moment of awkward silence. And then BOOM! Like a volcano, Maki's nasty attitude would just erupt from his tiny little body. His Redler hissed loudly, as if to alert everything in a two mile radius to stay away. It was going to be messy.
Maki slowly opened his mouth wider with eyes set out for blood. Bandits were a no-show, time to whip out the good ol' talk to yourself in fury method. Of course, that was the plan, until a high pitched humming sound found its way to the Redler. "What the fuck is tha-" Maki shouted, turning his head to his side monitor before his voice was drowned out by the strange sound. A bright beam of light zoomed past Maki's Redler, ripping the air as it went. In an instant, the Red Desert had gotten itself a brand new crater. Scary. "What....the hell was....that!?" He was flabbergasted. Shocked. Dumbfounded. What kind of weapon was that?! He knew they were many insane weapons out there, but wow. Now THAT was power right there. It was off the charts. Maki was paralyzed. He felt his fighting blood scream for him to start moving, but he was paralyzed. This was crazy. How fast was that laser? How far could it go? The thoughts stuck with Maki as he was still trying to analyze the situation. "If they hit me and my Redler head...on....." He gulped. This sensation was rather quite confusing. There was a part of him that felt wary of the whole situation, like retreating would be a rather well-played option at the moment. But then there was the other side of him, the beast in him. It had been stirred. It wanted to stay and see what was going to happen. That part of him didn't fear Death.
"Hey, you alright?" A voice suddenly filled the silence of the moment. Turning towards the voice, Maki found himself face to face with a rather.....peculiar zoid. It wasn't like any other zoids he had seen before. It looked strong, mysterious. The appearance was definitely alien-like. The pilot though, was definitely a human. Inside the cockpit, Maki eyed his target. Were they the one that fired the beam? It sure looked like it. Seriously, how would bandits ever get their filthy hands on such a powerful weapon? So it definitely wasn't the bandits. And the only other person here was that pilot and their zoid. Was there a need for any more evidence?
Grabbing on the controls tightly, Maki maneuvered the Redler into a flight position, letting the boosters kick into gear. The Redler gave a loud screech as it ascended into the sky, front legs stretching out, showing off its sharp and deadly claws. The wings slowly moved as the zoid faced the liger, ready for the brawl that it predicted was about to happen, the brawl that its pilot had been yearning for, the brawl that seemed like it would've never taken place. Until now. Charging forward at 100 mph, the Redler's front claws aimed for the liger's main body, readied to claw out whatever it would touch. And Maki? Maki was about to make Hell seem like a cake walk.

Dead air. It was most likely a Wild Zoid or something. She doubted that the blast had hit it, as it didn't seem broken or wounded in any way. And a person would have answered..... she assumed. She eyed the beast for a moment, trying to name it, but to no avail. She sighed, loudly, and in that moment she remembered the Com Link was still on. She reached her hand out to flick the switch..... but paused when she saw the Zoid launch itself into the air. It screeched as it ascended into the air, stretching it's claws out and the like. Maybe it was just leaving or thought it was outclassed or something. She had no idea.
That train of thought left her mind as it circled around and picked up speed.
"Shit!" She heard the echo of her voice over the Link, but fuck that for now, she had bigger fish to fry. She firmly grasped the controls with one hand, the other that had been outstretched began pushing the various buttons and switches. Some of them still stuck or didn't respond, but she didn't have the breath or the time to curse at her new Zoid. She gave the controls a hard pull left, which the tiger acctually complied to. It wasn't fast enough, though. The sharp claws glanced the tigers back leg, sending sparks and the sound of screaming metal through the air. The tiger roared out loudly, pain and rage mixing into one sound. Red flashed in the cockpit on her, and a message appeared on main monitor: "Defence Mode Activated. Shields Enabled. Charging for Attack."
All four sets of the tigers claws lit up, as well as the largest set of fangs. The beast lurched to life, moving of it's own accord. Chessa gripped the controls and tried to pull it back, but the resistance she made was minimal. The tiger launched itself forward, maoving in the opposite direction that the other Zoid was going, then spun around to face it. It roared at the other Zoid- a challenge. It's stance said 'Come get some if you dare!'.
Chessa growled and tried the controls again, but this time another message appeared on screen: "Error; Lockout". The damned thing had frozen the controls on her. "Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid!" Her fingers again danced again over the various buttons and switches, but again none of them worked. Not even the 'Eject' button would do anything. "Why won't you just calm the fuck down?!" She hissed to the Zoid. She had entirely forgotten that the Communications line was open.
;;Edit was fixing a code I messed up on!
