Kay, so I'm a big nostalgic person, so since I've been in collage Ive been looking up and re-reading/watching/playing shows and games from when I was younger, specifically Anime and Manga. A lot of times as I've been doing this, I keep thinking to myself: "How did I MISS that?!?! Was I stupid as a child?"
My biggest example is CardCaptor Sakura. I work in the local Public library, and yesterday someone turned in the entire series. I decided to check it out for myself to read through, since I read them and loved them so much when I was little. Now, I hope I'm not spoiling it for anyone, but be warned with these next few lines if you haven't read it and have a desire to. There was SO MUCH stuff going on that I didn't even pick up on as a kid! Sakura herself is 'in love' with a guys five or six years older than her (she's ten, by the way) named Yakito (or something). Her best friend has a Homosexual crush on her. Her male 'rival' Li has a crush on Yakito as well, and apparently Yakito and her older brother are in a relationship! Plus one of her friends (who is also ten) is in a secret relationship with their teacher, who has to be at least in his late thirties!
So, none of this really bothers me; I'm not the kind of person that bashes someone just because of their sexuality. (Okay, so the weird student-teacher realatonship bothers me, but thats not the point...) This is just my example, since I've been noticing stuff like this with a lot of stuff that I've been going back too. And I was just wondering, does this happen to anyone else, or was I just a compleatly stupid, oblivious child? ;-;
